In Nicaragua, school is only mandatory until age 11, meaning a high school education is a luxury many children can not afford. Most students end up stopping their schooling after the 6th grade due to lack of resources and funding. To help these children lead successful lives, Building New Hope provides scholarships for motivated students to attend high school and receive a quality education.

Join us today in helping these children achieve educational success!

With a monthly donation of $25, you can sponsor one of the students above as they further their education and keep in touch with them through encouraging letters.

A one-time donation of $300 would fully fund a high school scholarship for one of the students above.

You can also donate money in any amount directly toward the education of these children, whether it be for additional supplies, activities, or students who may not have a sponsor.

An encouraging letter of support to one of these students can make a world of a difference and motivate them to continue working hard!

How is the donated sponsorship money used?

In order to be used most effectively for the benefit of the students, the money donated from sponsors is pooled into one collective fund. This allows us to not only provide for your specific sponsored child, but to help all of the children as a whole, even those who may not have a sponsor.

What does each sponsored child receive?

Along with the cost of admission for school attendance, each sponsored child will also receive school supplies, a backpack, and a new pair of shoes. Students may also receive transportation or clothing depending on their grade level.

Can I check my sponsored student's progress in school?

As a sponsor, you will receive a yearly update indicating your student's participation and progress in school. These are provided only as progress updates to demonstrate the student’s continued participation in school. They are not intended for sponsors to assess their student’s weaknesses or areas in need of improvement. It is of utmost importance that these students are encouraged to continue achieving in their classes!

Can I send my student other types of gifts?

If you would like to send your sponsored student a gift for their birthday or another holiday, contact us first! You will need to mail a check to us indicating what item you would like to be purchased so that it can be bought in Nicaragua and given to the student. We can also provide gift suggestions if you are unsure of what your student might enjoy.

  • To protect the privacy of the children and their families, no contact is to be made with students except through Building New Hope. Do not ask a student for any personal contact information.

  • Since costs may vary year to year based on grade level and need, sponsorships must be renewed on a yearly basis. Each year you will be contacted to ensure that you would like to continue sponsoring your student.

  • If, for any reason, you would like to halt your sponsorship, contact us via email so that we can cancel your sponsorship and promptly seek a new sponsor for the student.

  • Building New Hope reserves the right to restrict or discontinue your sponsorship if we suspect inappropriate behavior or actions that do not align with our values.
